Have Booth, Will Travel (some)
We love getting out to have fun!
The same brain drool that drives the content on this site reared it's ugly head when I decided attend some local taco festivals with my buddy and ex-business partner, George.
I figured it would be a fun way to sell some shirts and be around people who love tacos (the best people in the world). Turns out it is, but most people already have shirts on (damn it!~) and so we just gave away free hugs and stickers, sold a few shirts, and had a blast!
At the start of the next show, a lady asked for a free shirt (our quality and design are so good we have to give them away!~).
I give away lots of things (people love free stuff) and so I told her if she could toss a Tiger Taco into a small box, at the back of my booth, then she could take her pick .. it has never been the same!
True it tends to cost a lot of money to give away your product. But then when your goal is not really to make money (well, it really is, and this is not sour grapes, but I will only ever take 1% of the net anyways, so it is kind of okay in small doses) sometimes you just do things to have fun, make people laugh and smile, and the world seems like a better place.
It is important how we spend our time and money. We all have to eat and there are only 24-hours in a day, but if you can afford to have fun while doing good things, then our selfish lives are better!
Pivot is good word for startups and people as it allows us to take something, make changes and transform it into something better .. in this case, we have stopped paying for booth space in exchange for providing free shirts (and stuff) and entertainment.
Naturally we go upside down financially on these booth shows, but it is worthwhile as not everything is about money and it gives us a chance to introduce people to our 1% concept and the charities we/you support.
So if you are in the area, and you have a need for some crazy taco makers to bring their off-color booth and vibe, to make your attendees howl in delight, contact me using the Contact Us/me form (duh).
And, if you have read this far, and you are thinking, "damn, where is my free shirt as I am a Tiger Taco Tossing MoFo", just let me know and I will certainly consider it!
